EPOXY

Epoxy floor systems have become more commonly available.  Similar to floor paint, this resin is applied to a concrete floor and cures to a hard, opaque finish.

Pros of this process
Little or no machinery may be involved in applying epoxy floor system
  Consumer do-it-yourself systems are available

Uniform look

Cons
The process is pricy, particularly in larger applications
Poorly prepared floor surface or improperly administered epoxy floor system may bubble or
crack a year or more after application

Access to newly treated area is greatly limited for up to 10 days

Epoxy application isn’t scalable.  Obtaining a uniform look across the entire floor when refinishing     an additional area after-the-fact requires refinishing the entire floor

Epoxy seals the moisture into the floor, which may cause future cracking

OTHER DENSIFIED METHODS

There are other service providers offering concrete finishing services that bear a resemblance to FLOORGEN’s Luminize process.  Like FLOORGEN, they offer stripping machinery designed to refinish concrete floors, followed by some form of floor densifier.

Pros of this process
They use a densifying agent that allows the concrete to breathe
  Their work is easily fixed

Pros of using FLOORGEN’s Luminize Process
  Patented FLOORGEN diamond abrasive heads
Patented FLOORGEN floating 9-head refinishing machine, which provide a better, more        even stripping process resulting in a more consistently stripped floor

Multi-step abrasive and polishing regimes create the greatest amount of shine to last for the    longest time

Epoxy application isn’t scalable.  Obtaining a uniform look across the entire floor when refinishing    an additional area after-the-fact requires refinishing the entire floor
